Virtual Katz Writes: The rumor mill has been swirling for years that Apple would be jumping into the console race with a similar device to the upcoming Steambox. Well, it seems that the possibility of the rumor coming to light maybe closer than we all think. According to Computerandvideogames.com, at the Game Developers Conference just last week, Apple took time to meet with developers and inform them that they are in the process of developing a official gamepad for the iOS operating system. The news isnt surprising considering even Samsung showed off the gamepad that they are releasing for use with the next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S series phone. On top of that, the other swirling rumors of the next iPad being shown off at a press event this month, only pays homage to the development cycle for new accessories which at that point, is not all that shocking. Ill preface this post by saying that Ive never been an Apple guy. Ive never owned one of their computers (although one of my former jobs required me to use an old, but at the time new, Mac G3 and it was horrible). I tested an iPhone a few years ago and never wanted to own one. I do like the iPads, but prefer the openness of Android tablets. I havent had the chance to go hands-on with the new Samsung Galaxy S4, but I own a Galaxy S3 and love it. And Ive been able to check out the videos on this page showing all of the new features in action. Im hoping to check out some games for this new phone at GDC 2013 in San Francisco. But this phone could open up some really cool new ways to interact with games.
